What is integrative psychotherapy?

As an integrative psychotherapist I believe in the principle of drawing from different approaches and working together to uncover the root causes of your emotional pain or difficulties and develop practical strategies to help you move forward. I believe that the relationships we have in our early lives contribute to the way we view the world and relate to others.  Past or present relationship difficulties, as well as a multitude of others factors, can contribute to all manner of issues that may present in your life today, such as low self-confidence, stress, anxiety, insecurity, anger, depression, dependency upon drugs, alcohol or other substances or practices. Addictive behaviours are often used for coping and they may serve as a distraction temporarily but they generally fail to resolve the underlying issue and often bring further problems. Counselling or psychotherapy may help you to access hidden emotional processes and identify limiting patterns that influence your present-day emotions, attitude, expectations and decisions.

Counselling may empower you to better understand others and become more tuned-in to your own thoughts, feelings and needs.  With this insight it becomes easier to communicate effectively, build better relationships and make choices that are more likely to achieve a satisfying outcome for you.
